Fayoum University Medical Journal (FUMJ) peer-review process is double-blind, though authors shouldn’t include any identification of their names, affiliations, or contacts in the main manuscript file. Authors' information, contribution, competing interests, and acknowledgments must be included in the “Title Page”.
Fayoum University Medical Journal (FUMJ) publishes the following article types:
- Original Research
- Case-Reports
- Meta-analysis
- Systematic Review
- Literature Review
- Retrospective Study
- Instructions for Manuscript preparation:
Title page:
- The first line of the title page should have the Full title (font 16 Bold, centered). Authors' information, order, and affiliations in the submitted files must be carbon-copied to the information submitted on the online system.
- The following line is the authors' names (First name, surname initials, Family name e.g. Gamal H. A. Hassan) (font 12 bold, centered), add superscript numbers after each author name to indicate the affiliation (Don’t use the academic degree), add (*) after the name of the corresponding author.
Note: Group authorship (for manuscripts involving a collaboration group), it should be mentioned by their official names according to PubMed records.
- The following line will have the affiliation of each author as follows: Department, institute, University, city, postal code, and country (font 12).
- The next line should have the details of the corresponding author (Full name, academic degree, affiliation, email address, phone number) (Font 12).
- All manuscripts must contain the following sections under the heading 'Declarations':
Ethics approval and consent to participate:
All manuscripts reporting any participation of human individuals such as their medical data, samples, tissues, or information must include a statement of their ethics approval and consent from any authorized ethics committee. That should contain the committee’s name, location, reference number (if appropriate), and ethical considerations guidelines, such as the Helsinki Declaration. Also, studies that include animal subjects must include a statement on ethics approval, as well. For studies without any animal or human data or samples, please state “Not applicable” in this section.
Consent for publication
- For manuscripts to include any images, details, or videos of any of the study participants, the authors should obtain consent to publish, such as in case reports studies.
- For studies without any data from any person, please state “Not applicable” in this section.
Availability of data and material
That section includes all information about data supporting the results (images, tables, hyperlinks).
Examples:
- The datasets generated and/or analyzed during the current study are available in the [NAME] repository, [PERSISTENT WEB LINK TO DATASETS].
- The datasets used and/or analyzed during the current study are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request.
- All data generated or analyzed during this study are included in this published article [and its supplementary information files].
- The datasets generated and/or analyzed during the current study are not publicly available due to [REASON WHY DATA ARE NOT PUBLIC] but are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request.
- Data sharing is not applicable to this article as no datasets were generated or analyzed during the current study.
- The data that support the findings of this study are available from [third party name] but restrictions apply to the availability of these data, which were used under license for the current study, and so are not publicly available. Data are however available from the authors upon reasonable request and with permission of [third party name].
- Not applicable. If your manuscript does not contain any data, please state 'Not applicable' in this section.
Competing interests
- The financial and non-financial competing interests should be mentioned in that section.
- If not, please state that” All authors declare no conflict of interest”.
Funding
- In this section, please mention the funding resources. That includes the funder's name, project title, location, and reference number.
- If not, please state that” This research is not funded.”.
Acknowledgments
Here, the authors should mention any participation from all individuals who contributed to the article “for example, gifting of some requirements or anyone who provided professional writing services or materials) Those don’t meet the criteria for authorship.
Manuscript Main File
That file shouldn’t have multiple fonts or styles. This file should be ordered as follows:
- Abstract:
- In the original article, case reports, and metanalysis studies:
It shouldn’t exceed 350 words. The abstract should be structured as Background, Aim of the study, Subjects and methods, Results, conclusion, and Keywords (3-5 words separated by semicolons).
It shouldn’t exceed 350 words. The abstract should be Non-structured (One paragraph). It should contain Keywords (3-5 words separated by semicolons).
It should explain the study's aims, summarize the previous literature, and demonstrate its novelty.
That should mention all information about the study population (not their identity), location and date of the study, inclusion criteria, exclusion criteria, methodology, and statistical analysis.
That should include the main findings of the study. The full statistical analysis should be mentioned in that section.
Please note:
- Tables and figures should be included in the results section at their first mention.
- Tables should be editable (not an image), ordered numerically, and have titles.
- Figures (Tiff, JPEG, PNG) should be of higher resolution (at least 300 dpi).
- Figures should be submitted individually in the online system, as well.
- Figures should be ordered numerically, and have a figure caption.
- Figures caption should have the figure number, title, and an illustration of the figure.
- Charts should be editable.
- Discussion:
For research articles, this section should discuss the implications of the findings in the context of existing and previous research and highlight the limitations of the study.
That should clarify the main conclusions, the importance and relevance of the study, and recommendations.
- References:
- References should be cited in the text numerically in brackets ( ).
- References should be formatted in Vancouver style.

They are any additional information that assists reviewers and readers in understanding the main results and hypothesis of the manuscript.

- FUMJ publishes articles in English only.
- Use double-line spacing
- Include line and page numbering
- Use SI units: Please ensure that all special characters used are embedded in the text, otherwise they will be lost during conversion to PDF
- The manuscript should be uploaded in Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX).
- FUMJ checks the manuscript for any grammatical, lingual, or plagiarized content (shouldn’t exceed 15%). If any errors regarding this point, the editor will send it back to the corresponding author for correction.
